SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Provides assistance with the order entry preparation and distribution of drug products under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. Maintains appropriate inventory of drug supplies and a system of control to ensure the integrity of the purchases, control of supplies and proper accounting for their distribution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Able to work appropriately with persons of varied ages, racial, ethnic, and sociological backgrounds
Handle all communications in an appropriate manner
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Provide all services in a professional, cooperative fashion demonstrating St. Joseph Medical Center as a Catholic Medical Center with a Community of Faith Program
Ability to handle frequent interruptions and adapt to changes in workload and work schedule
Ability to set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond quickly to emergency requests
Ability to exercise sound professional judgment
Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing)
Ability to meet the pharmaceutical care needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, psychiatric, oncology, obstetric, chemically dependent, rehabilitation, and skilled-nursing patients
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Working on Pharmacy Technician certification preferred
1-2 years of Pharmacy experience preferred, including preparation of IV solutions
