SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Medical Assistant will function as a member of the health care team. The Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for providing routine administrative as well as clinical tasks under the supervision of a provider within their scope as outlined by policies and procedures to meet patient and provider needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

High School diploma or equivalent required.

·Within 90 days of start date attain certification through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification after completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program OR

·Active status as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required, OR

·Currently working in a full-time Medical Assistant role for the past year to meet eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification within 90-days of employment date will be acceptable.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of a Medical Assistant Program Preferred.

Associates Degree preferred.
