JOB SUMMARY:

 

The laboratory assistant is responsible for performing phlebotomies on patients of all age groups, performing patient registrations and ordering laboratory tests in the EMR, processing of laboratory specimens, the collection of specialized tests, and performing breath alcohol testing.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High school graduate or GED required

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

 

Excellent verbal communication skillsExcellent customer service skillsThe ability to work well with a team and the ability to also work independentlyOrganized and detailed orientedGood problem solving skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Completion of a phlebotomy, certified nursing assistant, or medical assistant training courseCertification with ASCP or the National Healthcareer Association, Inc. as a certified phlebotomy technician or other discipline listed above.Customer service experienceMust have the ability to wor well under pressure and multitask in a fast paced environmentMedical terminology is helpful

 

Driver's License is preferred
