JOB SUMMARY:

The Medical Assistant / MA will be responsible for providing assistance with various health care services, and for assisting with administrative functions such as coordinating patient flow and scheduling appointments and taking phone messages. Under the direction of a Physician or APC, provides care within scope of Medical Assistant / MA Certification or Registration to patients referred to the clinic. The Medical Assistant / MA will function as a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing routine care under the supervision of a provider to meet patient and provider needs within the practice.

Serves as a trained preceptor for new medical assistant orientation and for instruction of medical assistant students. Responsible for one project or initiative annually in one of the following areas: Services Excellence, Quality, Staff Development, Information Technology, or Medical Group functions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School diploma or equivalent required.

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting Program required.

Three (3) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient practice or clinical specialty area required.

Active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) required.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Excellent oral communication skills required.

Computer skills required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree preferred.
