Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, a planned 341,000-square-foot acute care hospital, will enhance an already vibrant network of primary and specialty care providers across Lancaster County. The new hospital will feature 129 private inpatient beds, an emergency department, physician offices, various specialty inpatient services, an imaging lab and complete medical and surgical capabilities. Expanding this footprint will help ensure residents of these communities have access, quality and choice of care as close to home as possible.

Lancaster Medical Center will also create new clinical and research opportunities for learners and investigators at Penn State College of Medicine. SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Serves each patient with the highest quality scheduling experience in every interaction every day. Responsible for the scheduling of patient visits, pre-operative and/or diagnostic tests, and procedures for assigned area of responsibility. Supports the scheduling staff with guidance in day to day questions and scheduling concerns. Provides coaching and training of staff and input into new processes. Assists with the interview process, staff scheduling, and disciplinary issues as necessary.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Three (3) years of medical office or healthcare scheduling experience required

At least one (1) year of total medical scheduling experience within designated specialty required

Completion within one year of Medical Scheduler Certification Program required

Medical terminology required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Accurate Keyboarding and data entry skills

Excellent customer service skills

Excellent interpersonal skills

Ability to prioritize work and manage time requirements
