SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Academic Practice Division of Penn State Health Medical Group is seeking a full-time, clinically licensed behavioral health therapist for their Adult Partial Hospitalization Program. The candidate should have specialized therapeutic skills and experienced clinical judgement while providing psychotherapy to patients. Conducting psychological assessments and evaluations, utilizing evidence-based therapies, developing treatment plans and appropriate discharge plans is also a responsibility of the role. The position will include conducting individual and group therapy with patients in the adult partial hospitalization program. Some individual therapy focuses include mood disorders, anxiety disorders and marital conflicts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conducts independent psychological therapeutic services using specialized skills in family therapy, martial therapy and group therapy.

  • Responsible for the implementation and delivery of psychological therapeutic services requiring specialized therapeutic skills and experienced clinical judgement.

  • Conducts evaluation and provides therapeutic strategies to handle anxiety.

  • Works with patient and family to assist in their use of appropriate behavior therapy mindfulness techniques, personal strengths, and outside resources to maximize the patient’s overall stability and decrease anxiety.

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of initial treatment planning and discharge planning.

  • Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings, staff meetings, departmental meetings, and collaborative case conferences.

  • Coordinates activities and treatment needs with outside agencies.

  • Develops disposition and aftercare plan with the cooperation of the individual patient and family and makes appropriate referral to ensure that such services are available to the patient.

  • Conducts other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of his/her professional skills and credentials as directed by the Medical Director.

  • Involved in Quality Improvement efforts including identifying problems, developing indicators, investigating outcomes, and implementing QI recommendations.

  • Works with the Medical Director and Vice-Chairman of the Department; performs administrative functions as directed to monitor or improve utilization, cost, income, and other program development issues.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field required.

One (1) year of experience in the treatment of Psychiatric patients required.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required.
