Life Lion Aeromedical Communications Specialists are responsible for coordinating the efficient air or ground transfer of patients to and from the Hershey Medical Center by establishing communications among all parties, monitoring movement of all assets (Emergency Medical Services, Critical Care Transport, and Helicopter) and coordinating with appropriate personnel for the most efficient outcome.
The Communications Specialist will acquire all necessary information to efficiently dispatch the appropriate crew, dispatch and follow flight of all aircraft related missions to Hershey Medical Center, assigning coordinates and recording the mission using a computer program. They also organize and plan all EMS discharges from Hershey Medical Center using the online form as well as communicating with the Care Coordination and EMS Supervisory Staff. Additional duties include handling all radio communications and telephone traffic, processing all necessary paperwork (trip sheets, daily logs, e-mail requests etc.) They will also communicate with ED/Supervisory staff as necessary on a call by call basis (Medical Command notification, questions regarding Trauma level, incoming EMS to ED via the Charge nurse, and Emergency Department Technician for Aircraft arrival). The communication specialists will dispatch and assign crews from the Hershey Base, Carlisle Base, or Pediatric Critical Care Ground Team for retrievals.
High School Diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years related experience.
Must have experience with radio communication and be able to read maps and assign coordinates.
Excellent interpersonal communication, ability to use computers, ability to multi-task, and ability to handle stressful situations required
