SUMMARY OF POSITION :
The Pediatric Trauma Coordinator facilitates coordination of patient care for all patients in the pediatric trauma program to ensure optional patient outcomes and ensure highest quality of patient care according to the standards set forth by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF). This includes assisting patients and families with understanding their diagnosis and plan of care, preparation for discharge, and serving as an essential collaborative link between patients, families, and members of the interdisciplinary team. The Pediatric Trauma Coordinator is a trauma resource throughout the continuum of care and is a role model for professional nursing practice, including patient assessment, patient and family education, and interdisciplinary team collaboration.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
Three (3) years of clinical experience in a critical care or emergency department setting that includes care of the critically injured pediatric patient
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by the State of employment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Master’s degree in Nursing
Experience with quality improvement and data analysis concepts
Experience in case management and discharge planning
Certification in case management, rehabilitation, or pediatric specialty area (CCRN, CPEN, CPN, CBIS, TCRN).
