SUMMARY OF POSITION :

Responsible for direct patient medical management in the HVICCU and compliance with guidelines as outlined in the collaborative agreement. The HVI Intensivist Nurse Practitioner works independently in collaboration with intensivist attendings. This group of practitioners provides continuous medical supervision and management of all patients in the HVICCU 24 hours a day/7 days a week/365 days per year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Either (A) Master's Degree in a Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) and (3) years critical care experience as a staff nurse required; OR (B) Master's Degree in an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Program with a minimum of one year CRNP experience (which could include clinical rotations or relevant clinical experience in applicable specialty) and (3) or more years critical care experience as a staff nurse required.

  • Must be licensed and in good standing with the state of Pennsylvania board of nursing as a CRNP.

  • Must possess knowledge of appropriate critical care, to include advanced cardiac life support and basic cardiopulmonary life support certification.

  • National certification as an advanced practice nurse required.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Critical thinking, critical physical assessment required.

  • Ability to diagnose and formulate a medical management plan required.

  • Ability to communicate with interdisciplinary team, patients, and families during critical situations required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred.
