SUMMARY OF POSITION :

Function as a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing routine care under the supervision of a provider to meet patient and provider needs within the scope of Medical Assistant Certification or Registration as outlined by Penn State Health Scope of Practice Policies and Procedures. This clinic typically sees 200 patients/day and with Surgical Specialties encompassing Colo-rectal/IBD, Urology, Pediatric Urology, Endocrine Surgery, Minimally Invasive Surgery, General Surgery, Trauma & Solid-Organ Transplant (Liver & Kidney), the assigned Medical Assistant will be moving at a fast-paced consistently throughout the day. The Medical Assistant will be expected to complete the following daily duties: Rooming Patients, Vital Signs, Maintaining Clinic Flow, and Collecting Urine Specimens.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

High School diploma or equivalent required

Must meet current eligibility to to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date; OR

Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):

Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program preferred

Previous outpatient experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

Excellent communication skills

Compassionate direct patient contact/engagement/outreach

Reliable transportation to travel among designated clinic locations

Flexibility to collaboratively work with various departments and perform varied tasks
