SUMMARY OF POSITION :

Typical Duties
· Collects and documents information from patients including medical concerns, medications, and allergies
· Assists with in-office procedures
· Maintains inventory of examination room supplies
· Prepares exam rooms at the beginning and end of day and between each patient contact
· Performs variety of office responsibilities
Under supervision of the Practice Site Manager and in collaboration with other team members, you will provide direct and indirect patient care to a diverse population of patients in need of rehabilitation services, i.e. children and adults with limb loss, brain injury or stroke and spinal cord injury. The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) MA must be committed to learning about the various treatments and procedures used for rehabilitation including equipment and bracing, spasticity, pain, sports medicine, electrodiagnostic and others. In addition, training will occur on the use of Hoyer lifts, wheelchair transfers, and any additional skills required to assist patients with during appointments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
High School diploma or equivalent required
Must meet current eligibility to sit for the exam with attainment of certification or registration through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistants within 90-days of employment date; OR
Current active status as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through one of the Penn State Health approved agencies for Medical Assistant certification required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or must obtain BLS Certification within 6 months of employment date
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program
Previous outpatient experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Excellent communication skills
Compassionate direct patient contact/engagement/outreach
Reliable transportation to travel among designated clinic locations
Flexibility to collaboratively work with various departments and perform varied tasks
