This position is in an outpatient and ID office setting. It involves working with a team of providers, nurses, case managers, and administrative associates to optimize care for two main groups of outpatients:
Patients discharged from the hospital on iv antibiotics:
With oversight from ID providers and RNs, the LPN will assist the team with portions of the outpatient process (e.g., sending/retrieving lab results, inputting lab results into a database, determining if requested appts. and tests have been scheduled, serving as a liaison between calls from VNAs and pharmacies with the HMC ID team, and other outpatient parenteral antimicrobial therapy (OPAT) related tasks). This work is primarily done in the ID office.
Patients with HIV infection:
With oversight from ID providers and RNs, the LPN will assist the team with a variety of activities related to HIV treatment, including monitoring, tracking, and scheduling appts. for those patients who are receiving IV or IM antiretroviral medications at regular intervals in the infusion area. Other activities will include inputting lab results into a database, membership on an HIV CQI team, triage of patient phone calls, phlebotomy at a clinic site (on occasion only), and other HIV-related nursing tasks as needed. This work is primarily done in the ID office but some will involve going to the outpatient setting.
Currently licensed to practice as a licensed practical nurse by state of employment or holds a multistate LPN license through the interstate Nurse Licensure Compact.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required prior to completion of orientation.
