C LINICAL PSYCHIATRIC SPECIALIST - PEDIATRICS ADOLESCENT MEDICINE
J OB SUMMARY:
Seeking a Clinical Psychiatric Specialist to conduct independent psychological therapeutic services using specialized skills in family therapy, marital therapy and group therapy. Responsible for the direct supervision and teaching of psychiatric residents, nurses, other inpatient unit staff, graduate students and other assigned staff in the performance of therapeutic functions within the program, including the orienting, evaluating, and directing of these individuals.
Our Clinical Psychiatric Specialist is responsible for the implementation and delivery of psychological therapeutic services requiring specialized therapeutic skills and experienced clinical judgement. Screens and approves admission referrals. Conducts in-depth intake psychological assessments and evaluations both before and at the time of admission, a triage function requiring independent critical interpretive assessment skills and sound clinical judgement. Conducts and provides ongoing treatment planning by assessing patients clinical status and therapeutic progress.
Works with patient and family through the family therapy process to assist in their understanding and use of appropriate interactional patterns, personal strengths, and outside resources to maximize the patient’s overall stability, growth, and development, as well as that of the family as a whole. Responsible for the development and implementation of initial treatment planning and discharge planning.
Develops and implements policies and procedures for the delivery of Inpatient Psychiatry assessment and treatment services in the collaboration with the inpatient psychiatry unit Medical Director and Vice-Chairman of the Department. Participates in multidisciplinary team meetings, staff meetings, departmental meetings, and collaborative case conferences. Coordinates activities and treatment needs with outside agencies. Develops disposition and aftercare plan with the cooperation of the individual patient and family and makes appropriate referral to ensure that such services are available to the patient.
Conducts other diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the scope of his/her professional skills and credentials as directed by the Medical Director. Involved in Quality Improvement efforts including identifying problems, developing indicators, investigating outcomes, and implementing QI recommendations. Works with the Medical Director and Vice-Chairman of the Department; performs administrative functions as directed to monitor or improve utilization, cost, income, and other program development issues.
M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Master's Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related field with 1-2 years of experience in the treatment of psychiatric patients.
P REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFT) preferred.
