RN REGISTERED NURSE – ED OBSERVATION UNIT/ CLINICAL DECISION UNIT (Emergency Department)

Penn State Health Hampden Medical Center brings acute inpatient medical services to communities in Cumberland, Perry, and York counties. The facility, features 108 private inpatient beds and an attached outpatient medical office building.

The Clinical Decision Unit is a 10 bed unit with full negative pressure capability that provides services to patients who require care that goes beyond their initial evaluation and management in the emergency department. The goal of the unit is to determine the need for inpatient admission. The unit will do this by providing active management of specific conditions using the best available clinical evidence. The Clinical Decision Unit manages patients for up to 24 hours, after which time a disposition should be made.

JOB SUMMARY:

The RN will assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records in the 25 treatment room Emergency Department. Staff Nurses will administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients, and may advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing

Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by State of employment

Basic Life Support (BLS)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

At least 6 months of Emergency Department RN nursing experience preferred
