SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Responsible for supporting the special needs of the department to include the coordination of special projects, database maintenance and administrative support.
The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 95%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:
Reads and interprets various components of the medical records, such as pathology reports, radiology reports or treatment histories. Uses clinical information to correctly abstract relevant clinical data.
Accurately enters clinical data across multiple electronic platforms. Assists with the timely submissions of data using established definitions and guidelines.
Contacts other clinical resources to clarify medical record documentation as necessary.
Coordinates, investigates, analyzes, compiles clinical data, and performs specific abstraction requests (i.e. chart abstraction) of designated elements according to requests/projects needs/requirements.
Organizes and tracks all data, ensuring data accurately reflects practice performance related to quality programs.
Collaborates and works closely with other departments on quality related matters.
Maintains effective working knowledge of specific clinical point of care decision support tools.
Assess data needs in collaboration with managers to create supporting reports for assessment and ongoing performance improvement activities.
Creates presentations/reporting documents for leaders for their data reporting needs.
The percentage of time spent performing secondary functions is 5%. The following duties are considered secondary to the essential duties listed above:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree in a job related field plus two years of job related experience OR High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years of job related experience required.
Experience in administrative support, medical office, allied health, or computer related field required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of medical terminology required.
Strong computer skills required.
Strong communication and organizational skills required.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products required.
